Key Concepts

Here are some key concepts you will encounter while using Tasnifer, which are important for better understanding this guide:

  • Detailed Quantity File: These are files containing the rebar or profile quantities of a structure, obtained from programs such as ideCad, STA4Cad, STASteel, and Tekla XSteel. In addition to the outputs of these programs, Excel files containing part information in a format specified by Tasnifer are also accepted as quantity files. These files are used to create Projects within Tasnifer. Each program has a different procedure for providing detailed quantity files:
    • ideCad outputs in txt format,
    • STA4 and Tekla XSteel output in Excel (xlsx) format. How to obtain these outputs from each program is explained in detail in later sections.
  • Project: A structure created by uploading detailed quantity files into the system, where information such as the quantity, length, and weight of rebar or profile parts is stored. This information can be examined in detail on the Project Review Page. There are two separate project types for Rebar and Steel Profiles. Multiple Cutting Plans can be created from a single Project.
  • Cutting Plan: Created by optimizing the selected parts in projects to minimize waste when cutting from standard lengths. Different parameters are used for Rebar and Profile projects when creating a Cutting Plan.
    • In Rebar projects, each cutting plan can have different values for floor, diameter, reuse, solving floors together, and leftover waste length.
    • In Profile projects, certain profile types can be excluded from optimization, and a stock file can be provided to allow cutting from existing stocks when creating a cutting plan.
  • Reuse: In rebar projects, this refers to using leftover rebar pieces from higher diameters that can be used as replacements for lower diameter rebars after cutting. Reuse is only allowed between adjacent diameters. For example, suitable leftovers from Φ12 can be used for Φ10 rebars but not for Φ8 rebars.
  • Leftover Waste: This is the shortest leftover that should remain if the rebar cutting process is performed according to the cutting plan generated by Tasnifer. When creating a cutting plan, the "Shortest length to consider for leftover waste" setting specifies the minimum leftover length to be considered in this calculation. For example, if this length is set to 10 cm, leftovers shorter than 10 cm are not included in this statistic.
  • Stock: These are the lengths available and ready for use before starting the cutting process. Stocks are used by uploading a Stock File prepared in Excel format into the system when creating a cutting plan for a profile project. Detailed information about stocks will be provided in later sections.
